Here is a little about my JOURNEY to a healthier ME!

I started a diet and the gym on June 1, 2011. My motivation was a trip that my husband and I took to Tennessee and North Carolina on our Harley. There were some beautiful waterfalls , and most of them you had to hike up the steep hills and mountains to see. I found that I was in terriable shape, and a lot of the times I would stay at the bottom of the trail waiting on my husband and friends to return with pic's and stories of the waterfalls, and all that they had seen. My heart would be pumping so hard in my ears, that it almost seemed that everyone else could hear it as well. I told myself right then, that after our arrival back home, I was going to get in shape and loose some weight....and that by next year I would be ready for another trip...........I would enjoy it to the fullest.

Another Bike Trip this past weekend.







I know this blog is about Dieting and Staying healthy.....but what better way to stay on track then to go and have some good times. We went with friends up into Il and KY...we had a great time and stayed at a real neat little Bed and Breakfast. We had Dinner at Patti's Restaurant...it was GREAT! I dont feel like I went over my calories for the day, Steve and I shared a Spinich Salad, a 2 inch Pork Chop (which they are noted for) and a baked potato....the only thing was that we had a little baked bread. They bake the bread and serve it in these little clay pots. Oh...and I forgot..the 4 of us shared a dessert....but that is better than eating the entire thing by yourself. We managed to get in a little excercise also, walking to a cave, and down the pier, and climbling on the Rocks at the Garden of the Gods.

Mountains, Music and Motorcycles



We had a good time at the Rally in Mountain View this past weekend, I did pretty good staying on my diet, untill the last day, we all met at the Pizza Inn for a buffet breakfast....couldnt resist the sausage links. So it has been back to the gym and walking for me this week.....looking forward to another fun weekend coming up....better save myself some calories.

Movie Night

My son and I had a movie night last night. We went to see Cowboys and Aliens. Anyway..........I did have popcorn..and a snicker bar.....SOOOOOOOOOOO I am really eating light today. I had a 1/2 grapefruit for breakfast. I am having Tilipa for lunch with some brocolli. My snack will be Cantelope and yogurt. Not sure whats for supper tonight.....not given it much thought yet. I skipped the gym yesterday to have lunch with a good friend...which was great....we talked and laughed and got caught up with our gossip...lol. Gym will be a big priority today.

Breakfast

I had one of my favorite things for breakfast this morning........well has been one of my favorite since I quite eating bacon and eggs or sausage and eggs or gravy and biscuits LOL. I have it a couple of times a week.....Whole Wheat bread with a tablespoon of low fat peanut butter. sliced bananas, and a tsp of jelly. YUM! I love peanut butter...............I use to eat about a tablespoon of peanut butter on two saltine crackers, and would have several of them.....now it is peanut butter and banana sandwhich or peanut butter on rice cakes. Important thing is that I do not have to do with out it.
For lunch I have brought left overs from supper..Tilapa baked with Pamesan cheese on it, and a little lemon juice, some Cantelope and a Yogurt for snack this afternoon.

WALKING

When I first started walking each afternoon , I would only walk 30 min..after about 15 I would start looking at my watch...my thoughts would be I just dont know if I can walk anymore laps. After about the 2nd week I stopped looking at my watch..and just walked and walked, before long I was walking 30 min with no problem. I now walk about 45 to an hour. If I walk by myself I listen to my MP3 player, which really helps...I get to walking to the music and the time goes by before you know it. If someone walks with me...which is what I prefer, the time passes because we are so busy talking...imagine that....man the stories we can tell. I love the nice cooler days when there is a small breeze and the sky is blue. I have walked a few times in the morning...love that too...I just don't get a chance do that very often. I try to forget all worries and just enjoy the quite time and the smell of fresh cut grass ( and hope that there arent any neighbors grilling ) lol.....that makes me want to cut it short and head home for food.

Buying Clothes

Buying clothes has become fun again...lol . I have bought a few new things....still loosing .....so havent bought any new jeans...well one pair (3 sizes smaller by the way). YES! Large and meduim tops instead of XL.............feels great. Even swimming season wasnt the big dread that it usually is for me.

Pretty good day today

Had a good work out at noon today....couldn't wait to eat my lunch. I had Grilled Chicken Breast..Green Beans and yogurt. I had some fat free graham crackers for a snack. Tilopia for supper, with Brocolli Casserole and a Baked Sweet Potato.

2 1/2 Months ..34 pounds

I started my JOURNEY to loosing weight and getting healthier on June 1, 2011. As of today August 16, 2011 I have lost 34 pounds and feel great! I have 16 more pounds to my goal. After I reach my goal, my plan is to keep eating the foods that I have been (much healthier than the foods before) but to eat a little more, and splurge here and there with the foods that I miss. I also plan to keep working out at the gym....because I know I will not do it at home. I have to learn that this is not a diet but just a way of eating healthier and that I have to do it from here on out......or I will be right back where I was.
